Wombwell SNT attended an Old Person’s Conference at Darfield Community Centre on Illsey Road, Darfield on the morning of Monday 25 January organised by the South East Area Partnership.
The purpose of the event was to provide information and face-to-face contact with local residents who took the opportunity to ask the SNT, councillors and other agency representatives any questions they had.
The attendees were told about services which they were entitled to and how they go about receiving them such as SmartWater, the identity marking chemical which is used to brand valuable so they can be identified if lost or stolen.
Other agencies who attended the event included Benefits Advice, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, Age Concern, Crime and Safety Group, Bernslai Homes, Premier Leisure, Leaning Net and the Primary Care Trust.
The event included bingo, a raffle and lunch was provided for all members.
Wombwell SNT Tasking Officer Martin Kenworthy said, “Events like this are particularly valuable to elderly people because it brings all the relevant agencies to one place so communication is made easy for them. It gives our more mature neighbours a chance to learn how they can maintain their safety in their community.” Add this article to your Social Bookmarking Site
