The best-selling American crime author Sara Paretsky is to visit Scarborough this month. Sara is the author of fifteen previous books, including the twelve novels featuring V.I. Warshawski, a female investigator who uses her wits as well as her fists. The actress Kathleen Turner played V.I. Warshawski in the 1991 movie of that name.
Sara has won many awards, including the Cartier Diamond Dagger Award for lifetime achievement from the British Crime Writers' Association, and the CWA Gold Dagger for her recent novel, Blacklist.
Sara will be appearing at the central library in Scarborough on Sunday February 21 at 7pm, to read from and talk about her eagerly awaited new novel, 'Hardball'.
County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, Executive Member for Adult and Community Services, said:"This is a unique opportunity for fans of Sara Paretsky to listen to her talking and reading from her latest book.
"It is a testament to the work of the Scarborough Literature Festival team and the whole library service that we are being included in the itineraries of bestselling, international authors."
Tickets to the event are £4, and include a complimentary glass of wine. They are available now from Scarborough Library enquiry desk.
This event is a lead in to the Scarborough Literature Festival which takes place from April 15 and 18.
