Doncaster Council’s Neighbourhood Hit Squad are holding a consultation event for residents in the Hyde Park area on Thursday 29 July 2010 at Glasgow Paddocks from 1-6pm. It comes as the team finish six months addressing issues in the area.
The project, funded by New Deal for Communities, has been tackling properties in a state of disrepair as well as advising residents on issues such as rubbish, crime and anti-social behaviour and helping the unemployed.
In addition, health agencies, fire officers and the police have been involved in tackling wider issues such as offering advice on community safety, fire safety, improving health and increasing residents awareness on
how to be more energy efficient.
The project spent six months in Hexthorpe previously before moving on to Hyde Park, the next area will be Lower Wheatley in August.
As the project draws to a close in Hyde Park residents are being asked to give feedback. The free consultation event will feature stands from a variety of partner agencies, including the fire service who will be demonstrating their cutting equipment on a car.
Councillor Patrick Wilson, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "The Neighbourhood Hit Squad is all about improving the local environment for residents, making areas better places to live.
"In a direct response to residents’ concerns, the project is focusing on the areas we get the most complaints about.
"I am very pleased to say the project has been held up as an example of best practice nationally, our team have been giving advice to other local authorities.
"I would urge local residents in Hyde Park to come along to our event - this is your chance to tell us how you think we did."
