Elsecar Park raises Green Flag PDF Print E-mail

The official raising of the “Green Flag” at Elsecar Park takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 July at 12 noon, at the pitch and putt area.

This event is being run nationally to raise the profile of all the Green Flag award winners across England and Wales.

Elsecar Park and Local Nature Reserve will be raising the flag for the third year running.

The Green Flag award scheme is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales.

It was first launched in 1996 to recognise and reward the best green spaces in the country.

Awards are given on an annual basis and winners must apply each year to renew their Green Flag status.

Location – Pitch & Putt area at Elsecar Park

Deputy Mayor of Barnsley, Cllr John Parkinson will be in attendance from 11.30, he will be given a short tour of the park and then asked to raise the Green Flag along with all those involved with supporting the continued improvements Elsecar Park.
