This Saturday (31 July 2010) there will be fun for all the family at the St Helens Community Gala between 11am to 2pm.
The gala will take place on Laithes Lane playing fields (Pit field) in Athersley. Look out for free face-painting, donkey rides, fire engine, a bouncy castle and sport day themed races with prizes. Refreshments will also be available.
The event organised by the council’s North East Area Partnership will provide visitors with an opportunity to meet representatives from local community groups, Youth Service, Learning Net, Workers Education Association and Safer Neighbourhoods Team.
St Helen Ward residents will also have the chance to raise any concerns they may have with
their local councillors.
The gala will also host the launch of ‘Match the Cash’, an exciting new small grants programme aimed at supporting and encouraging small groups of residents and community organisations to deliver local projects in their neighbourhood. Grants between the values of £50 to £500 will be available.
The North East Area Partnership Team will be asking visitors their views on the issues of crime and environment as part of the Think Local, Act Local survey.
